Shelter For my Heart
My heart is longing
For somewhere to fit in,
A sense of belonging.
A stable, safe place
Where I know that I can find refuge
From this harsh, hectic race.
No more make believe
Or promises that one can not keep.
This heart is hoping for a total reprieve.
I have stood on my own two feet...
Taken on the battles of life,
Struggling always to overcome defeat.
But now, the time has come.
When my weary heart
Is ready to find another to become as one.
My heart cries out a plea...
To all those who may listen,
"Be gentle to my heart!"
For somewhere to fit in,
A sense of belonging.
A stable, safe place
Where I know that I can find refuge
From this harsh, hectic race.
No more make believe
Or promises that one can not keep.
This heart is hoping for a total reprieve.
I have stood on my own two feet...
Taken on the battles of life,
Struggling always to overcome defeat.
But now, the time has come.
When my weary heart
Is ready to find another to become as one.
My heart cries out a plea...
To all those who may listen,
"Be gentle to my heart!"
Excuse Me Friend
Excuse me Friend,
Have you the time to spend?
To walk with me awhile,
To go the extra mile?
I often see you go right by
Without even a simple "Hi."
Oh dear friend,
I will mend -
But how long can you stand
Without taking my hand?
Whenever you discover that you're a child of God
I know that you'll hold tightly to the rod.
My wards are most true.
When I say, "I love you."
So please...
Get down on your knees
And walk along with Me.
Have you the time to spend?
To walk with me awhile,
To go the extra mile?
I often see you go right by
Without even a simple "Hi."
Oh dear friend,
I will mend -
But how long can you stand
Without taking my hand?
Whenever you discover that you're a child of God
I know that you'll hold tightly to the rod.
My wards are most true.
When I say, "I love you."
So please...
Get down on your knees
And walk along with Me.
Why a Star Falls
A star, aged with wisdom and knowledge
Provides our night with a burst of light.
Many a wish has been cast upon it -
Quite a few have even come true!
Beneath the night's starry blanket
You and I, in wonder, gaze to the heavens.
"I wish I may, I wish I might..."
The star's ray of light brightens our friendship.
Sprinkles our hearts, unexpectedly with stardust.
Together, eyes closes, we cast a wish for the future.
The warmth of the light awakens my heart.
And your soul smiles so bright.
As if on cue, the star falls from heaven -
Leaving a stream of destiny and glory.
Our wish - signed, sealed, and delivered!
A gift from the heavens - just for us!
NUMBERED
Am I one of the ninety-nine?
Would my Savior say…
“Dear one, you are mine?”
Paths and choices gone astray,
So many opportunities dismissed
Is it possible to still find my way?
Have I done enough?
To triumph over
A life that has been so rough.
Is my desire to elevate,
To rise above and overcome
Sufficient to improve my fate?
They tell me it is so…
I’m numbered and known
But how can I know?
I have turned to prayer to relieve
Given it up and given to God
Now I must struggle to believe.
It will take a lifetime to atone
To surmount my errors
To measure how much I’ve grown.
I’ll make it through another night
With fears conquered once more
By my Savior, my light.
Numbered with the faithful?
Yes, I am confident to say
I will ascend to Bountiful.
Letting Go
So many broken promises and dashed hopes.
Another wound to an already vulnerable heart.
A relentless ache from within the soul whispers
"Its time to let go."
Vanished dreams for a happy, loving future.
Concerns pushed aside once more...
Leaves a lingering feeling of confusion and desire.
A broken heart realizes that it must now
Let Go.
Nothing stirs more pain deep within the spirit
Or leaves a greater feeling of unrest...
Disconcerts the mind or confuses the heart more than
Letting Go.
Releasing love the putting deisres asie will free the soul
While ripping apart the very fibrs of one's faith.
Prompting the question,
"How do I let go?"
When love is finally forced to accept reality
And burdens are too great to bear any longer -
The only cure to restore happiness;
Though agonizing at first, is to finally
Let Go.

Vanished dreams for a happy, loving future.
